'Serving Jesus, by doing practical things, for Wycliffe Bible Translators in Papua New Guinea'

Clark, Jana, Kyle, Clint, & Aaron Teders are now back in Papua New Guinea. The Teders family has been a loving part of the New Beginning home for many years. Continue to lift them in prayer as they return to the field to serve our Lord in in Papua New Guinea. Pray for them as they support Bible translation in Papua New Guinea through Industrial Management and teach missionary children!

Teder's Talk August 2008

The boys and I (Jana) are bringing our school break to a close and are gearing up for a very busy school year. Kyle will be in 12th grade, and Aaron will be in 10th grade. The boys kept quite busy this break. Kyle spent a week on a construction/VBS youth team to assist with the construction of an orphanage specifically focusing on children whose parents have died from AIDS. He was a team leader and enjoyed working on one of the main buildings hammering in the floor joists and making the floor support a perfect square.

Aaron spent a significant amount of his time just having fun with his friends. He did take time to go the Kuman New Testament Bible Dedication, traveling by bus to Kundiawa (coon dee aw wa), spending the night in a church and attending festivities before returning. There are 120,000 Kuman speakers. The people above are reading their newly acquired Kuman New Testament. This next Monday, he will farewell his classmate, whose parents completed the Kuman New Testament as they return home to the states after many years working in PNG. June and July are always full of good-byes and hellos bringing a bittersweet emotion to our lives.

During a short holiday to Lae along the PNG coast (in the Huon Gulf about 3 hours drive from Ukarumpa where we live), Clark actually had time to read an entire book! Some of you may be familiar with the author, Ted Dekker. We had not realized that the author actually grew up as a missionary kid here at Ukarumpa. Some of you younger friends may recognize the movie Thr3e that is based on one of his novels. Just a little tidbit of Ukarumpa trivia.

As I relaxed, I spent some time reflecting on my journal notes from late last year as we prepared to make our journey back to PNG. God reminded me of the verse that he had given me, Isa. 43: 18-19, "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? ...." I pondered if I had seen the new things and what more new horizons the Lord had planned. This was a good reminder to me to be seeking God in the everyday happenings of life as he is doing a 'new thing'. Actually some of the situations we have experienced have been disappointing and different from our expectations but the sense that God is with us is stronger.

May you find peace as you too expect God to make a new way in your horizon.

Blessings to all,
Clark and Jana Teders
