Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him. - Jeremiah 17:7

Men's Ministry - NBFC is dedicated to helping men become the Godly men that God purposed us to be.

Monthly Men's Meeting - We meet in the fellowship hall the second Sunday night of each month at 6:30 pm. We study the Word while we fellowship in food and drink. Sometimes we have a strange variety of foods, but we always have fun in the Lord. 2007 was a year of testimonies. 2008 is a year of prayer.

Let 2008 Be A Year Where We "Fight Like Real Men"

Today, more than ever our church needs men that are willing and obedient to fight against the deeds of darkness that surround and try to encompass our church, our families, our jobs, and every aspect of our lives. What is it that we need? We need courageous men. Several time God told Joshua to be strong and courageous so that God might use them to take the land of Canaan. Yes, they obeyed God and fought as God led. But did they miss the heart of God in what they were doing. Yes, at times, but they were strong and courageous. Chapter 12 of Joshua lists the kings that were conquered. The first town was Jericho (walls to be torn down). The second town was Ai (sin to be conquered). The list of towns that fall is no more than a list of spiritual forces that the people need to fight spiritually to draw close to God.

The other day while Edie and I were riding together, Edie saw a bumper sticker. It read, “Fight Like Real Men, Down on Your Knees”. Daniel had been fasting for about three weeks on his knees fighting like a real man. After the three weeks were over a hand touched him and set him trembling on his hands and knees.

And he said to me, “O Daniel, man of high esteem, understand the words that I am about to tell you and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you.” And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood up trembling. Then he said to me, “ Do not be afraid, Daniel for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on humbling yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to your words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persian was withstanding me for twenty-one days; then behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persian. - Daniel 10:11-13

The Lord has been working this in my mind and the following verses from scripture.

Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. - Ephesians 6:10-12

I believe that this is what God wants us, the men of His church to do. This is our part and this is our fight. The angel that was sent to Daniel could not win by himself against the kings of Persian (spiritual forces of darkness) until he was assisted by the Michael the archangel from heaven. Note that the angel took three weeks to get to Daniel and from Daniel 10:2 we see that Daniel had been mourning for three entire weeks.

Never doubt the power of prayer! Let this be the way we fight our battles for the bride (church) of Jesus, our families, and every aspect of our lives.

Weekly Accountability Group - We normally meet in the fellowship hall every Thursday night at 7:00 pm, but this summer we will be doing practical service for the fellowship.  Contact Johnny Fowler at mailto:johnny.fowler@cox.net for more information. We strive to hold each other to be Godly men in a world that is upside down as compared to God's Kingdom. The Accountability Group's goals and missions are:

  • To learn together with all our hearts, minds and souls on how to draw nearer to God and His Word.
  • To pray, serve, support and encourage our families for justification (salvation) and sanctification (obedient walk with God).
  • To always be responsive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and to walk as Jesus showed us in our everyday lives (letting Jesus be our mentor).
  • To pray, serve, support and encourage our church fellowship as we purpose to further God's Kingdom on earth.
