Email dated: March 7th, 2010 Hello Prayer Partners: Clark and I recently completed our short term assignment at the regional center in Kokopo on East New Britain Island. Before leaving Kokopo, we had asked many of you to pray for Rejoice who was needing dialysis and needed to get to the capital, Port Moresby, for treatment. Many people were praying, and she was able to get to Port Moresby for additional treatment. She is staying with family, but still needs prayer for complete healing. Since we had a little time before we had to be back at our main center in Ukarumpa, we have flown to another regional center at Buka part of the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, Papua New Guinea. The managers are taking a week break while Clark is here to man the office and do some repairs. I'm heading up the kitchen for a Key Terms workshop that is currently in session at the regional training center. (Key terms are those words we use to explain the gospel such as salvation, sin, grace, etc. The participants hear lectures about these words; then discuss in their small groups which word(so) in their language best could be used for these words.) Currently, we have 25 participants that we are cooking for plus the expat staff. Jenny and Joanne are the two young Papua New Guinea ladies that are doing most of the cooking. We call our kitchen "The Three J's Kitchen". These ladies know what they are doing when it comes to cooking the foods from the market. I'm learning a lot from them, and hopefully they are learning a few things from me as well. One prayer request would be for Joanne as she has a severe infection on her finger. She went to the house sick and they cleaned it. She is on antibiotic. She needs to soak out the infection which means to stop and sit down. Being she is young, she hasn't wanted to take the time to be out of the action. Please pray it will heal quickly as it also means that Jenny must do more of the work when Joanne is not able to get her hand wet. Pray too for all the participants and the teachers health . We live in close quarters during a workshop. We do have running water and electricity, but germs spread quick in this humid environment. Down the cliff from the center, we have a beautiful view of a bay that often has 5-10 fisherman floating in their dug-out canoes. Last weekend, the dolphins came to play, but I missed them. Every time I go up the stairs to the office or our flat I'm a looking for them. Aaron remains in Ukarumpa living in the children's home and is doing well. Thank you for your prayers as we serve in various ways here in PNG. Blessings, Clark and Jana Wycliffe Bible Translators |
