For many months we have been discussing the subject of "grace" on this blog. Though grace will always be a special subject to discuss I wanted to make a change for now.

Please take time to send a question to me that you may have about the Bible or the Christian Life.  I will do my best to give you a good and timely answer.  Also, if you read another person's question please feel free to comment in a positive way to help each other.  Come on now, Let's send in some good questions.    Thanks, Pastor Ron

Johnny,

It would take me a very long time to write all of what these visions found in Ezekiel 1 might mean. It very obviously is connected to the Revelation of Christ that the Apostle John shares in Revelation 4.

Anytime we see visions that connect but yet are not exact we know that that God is trying to show us something very significant but is allowing us to see it through more than one set of eyes.

I have a small booklet written by Pastor Jack Hayford, Scott Bauer and Jack Hamilton entitled: The Spirit and the Glory (An Overview of Ezekiel). This booklet gives a wonderful overview of this great prophetic book. I will hand it to you when I see you.

As far as the exact interpretation of this vision of the four winged creatures was given by Amiee Semple McPherson, founder of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. Her actual writings as well as audio messages are available on the internet and Foursquare resources.

She was preaching on these visions in Ezekiel. In this message tells about the The Glory of the Lord seen around the throne. It describes God's ability to be all seeing. The eyes describing his ability to move in any direction with the wheel and the wheel within the wheel.

When preaching on this vision of the four faces she received a personal revelation of these four faces representing the four balanced and forthright ministries of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Seeing Him as Jesus Christ the Savior, Jesus Christ the Healer, Jesus Christ the baptizer with the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ the Soon Coming King. She called this "The Foursquare Gospel". Though you do not need the modifier "Foursquare" it is simply the gospel message.

The word "Foursquare" was used much more regularly in those days. It was a construction term. When something was "foursquare" it was known to be balanced and forthright. Not just level but balanced in every direction.

Out of that message preached in Oakland, CA came the name for a denomination that was never meant to be a denomination as such but rather just a good and safe way to train people for ministry.

It is interesting to note that there are many similar things between this vision and John's vision in Revelation. Ezekiel was in captivity in Babylon, John was in captivity on the island of Patmos. They were both "in the Spirit" when they saw the visions. They both express an understanding and experienced the Glory of God. They both were looking at what they describe as "The Throne of God. So, many things like this intrigues us as we look at these two wonderful prophetic books.

I will not even begin to try and give you any impression that I know anything about these visions but there is much written about them and I do encourage everyone to take note of the powerful truths contained in the pages of these prophesies.

I hope this helps and if you need more information I will try to find something for you.

Be Blessed.

Johnny, I still plan to answer your question. It is a very involved answer but I think it will be interesting. I'm sorry that my time has been limited as I am preparing for surgery. I will do my best to answer this and any other question that someone has as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.

Ron.. In the Life Journal Reading for today could you tell me more about the vision from Ezekiel 1. Specifically, what did these four winged creatures represent? Was this before the throne of God and similar to John's vision in Revelation?
